Leave the tip. Take the cannoli. Established in 2009.
It's never too little, too late.
Our local eateries are an endangered species and they need our support. And we need to eat. So let's join together and make an effort to support them and have a little workday fun in the process.
When Bangor Lunch Mob began in 2009, it quickly grew as a local Facebook group of over 800 members. We enjoyed a couple successful years of infusing business in the eateries of Downtown Bangor. Below is the original description of how things worked. Since then, many similar endeavors have surfaced, some very successful like the Cash Mob movement. Will the Bangor Lunch Mob rise again? ...Who's hungry?
Get out your wallets and appetites and join the once-a-week Bangor Lunch Mob. Each week, on an pre-announced day, a social media blast will go out to the group revealing that day's lunch location. Lunchmobbers are asked to visit the local eatery when they can (breakfast, LUNCH, dinner, TODAY, tomorrow) and bring a friend or work buddy.
Remember: Lunch Mob doesn't mean 500+ people will descend upon a restaurant (although there are worse problems to have), so don't be afraid of busy establishments or long lines. Many downtown restaurants have call ahead and take out options too.
The day will always be announced the weekend before. Don't forget to check back to make plans.
